InformationRap This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
Rio Hayward All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
Billie Morin This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
iannkingz Violet Evergarden story is cliche, predictable, it's one of those plot written Animes that make you expect something bad - and it will -- is going to happen, it almost reminds me of Plastic Memories. Main protagonist goes out on an adventure/journey, and seeks "this" meaning to define his/her existence by visiting newly introduced characters into her life and amending their said problems, or finding this kind of redemption. Violet Evergarden is that and it doesn't exactly fail to present a story with multiple sub plots for the progression of the protagonist. But that's where the unpleasant side comes from, you write a story that revolves around sub-plots in order to develop the protagonist, but it hinders the development instead, there's no point in the Anime that I felt a connection to the main protagonist due to the crucial absence of an important clarification of the main characters backstory, yes it showed certain crucial moments of the protagonist past, but not exactly enough, there is still explanations that needed to be done, which we didn't get at all, and was surely not drastic enough to create an emotional connection to the viewer, or to me, even after the 10/11th episode that felt like the ending, the plot deteriorates. What's the purpose of the remaining 2 episodes, they are just "extras" to add more irrelevant emotions -- being entirely unrelated to the actual reason why we are watching the show, which is about Violet, and not about the new characters that are presented each episode. It lacked and I felt like they needed to focus more on Violet's backstory -- what was her origin, who exactly trained her to be this fearless deadly killer at a very young age, and her family? Things that matter, are not shown. But that is expected from an Anime that doesn't go deep in backstory and expect you to assume the rest in your mind. Just like any other Anime.I won't lie, this anime is enjoyable, the emotional tale of Violet and her journey to seek the meaning of what I love you means to her, a human emotion that she is completely oblivious to. Uncovering or listening to the life stories of each character she meets in order for her to write down an intimate letter for her clients, to put what they genuinely feel in words that they can't express into a piece of paper for the person they care about to understand while herself unfolds the meaning behind the three words "I love you" is to her. I can understand why people like it, cause they feel emotional towards the Anime, and it does get to you, adding the spectacular animations, hell, it's great. Watch it.The gorgeous part of this Anime is the Art and Music, the beautiful animation and soundtracks this anime presents to you is astonishing, and it's like this is where half the budget went to. It's really eye-catching and that deserves recognition, for its Animation and music, props to the people who worked on it.Story: 7/10 Characters: 7/10 Art & Animation: 10/10 Music: 9/10 Enjoyment: 8/10
frogman-76852 Summary: It very well-styled and had an interesting plot. The characters are lovable, and their relationships is interesting. Hope to see a season two.
Warma Won't bore you with the details, but Violet Evergarden made me reminiscence about small german breweries and their small restaurants, where you ate too much and drank too much beer, both of which were immensely positive experiences. This show is deceptive in its first episode and initially focuses too much in the war flashbacks, but when it gets going, it doubles down on letters and how they are about deciphering the human condition. A very strong series with good animation, good writing, and good direction. Basically it dwells on the elements of emotional transmission that Spike Jonze's Her touched upon, but focuses on the issue and does not flail about or stray towards unnecessary issues, or issues the authors would have trouble expressing adequately. This creates a series which tells a soft story that doubles down on the most interesting aspects of its idea and simultaneously tells the story I actually want to watch without the metaphysical baggage or diverging into far-future concepts that it can't handle.Recommended.
Isabella It's been a while since the last time I watched such a brilliant anime. Violet Evergarden is absolutely stunning. Its about a young girl that fought in battles and now works as a ghostwriter - "Auto Memories Dolls". She writes letters for people who can't express their feelings. The reason she works as a ghostwriter is because she wants to find out, what it means, when someone says "I love you"!
