Disturbing yet enthralling

I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

Blistering performances.

It's honestly not very bad which is surprising since 4kids is the company who did this. It's not perfect but it's not bad.1. The characters are okay. I like Bloom and her voice acting wasn't bad. I found her to be a good representation of what a human girl would do if she was a fairy. She's not perfect and makes mistakes but she does learn to not let her enemies knock her down. That's a good role model. Her friends are okay. Stella can be a bit annoying and Flora doesn't have the best voice actress working with her. Musa was pretty good, I liked Tecna and Layla was a cool tomboy. Plus the three villains witches Icy, Darcy and Stormy are cool villains and just love being evil.2. The romance is pretty good. I like Sky and Bloom together. Their dialog can be a bit annoying but it's good. Stella and Brandon don't have good chemistry sadly. Just a bunch of cute pet nicknames and such. Musa and Riven have more of a realistic relationship. Tecna and Timmy are so adorable together. However Layla and Nabu were my favorite couple. So the romance is pretty good.3. The story flows pretty well together. I like how they have different powers and those types of powers are imaginative too. I like the battles they have and I like trying to find out more about Blooms past.4. The art is a sight to see. It's pretty and colorful but can be dark and menacing when needed. The backgrounds look pretty, the characters are modeled well and the other creatures are fascinating. There are a few things that hold back this from being great like how some romances don't work, some of the magic can be a bit head scratching, the girls can be a bit annoying and of course some 4kids voice acting for secondary characters is pretty bad. However if curiosity is begging you to watch this. You should watch it.

I personally love the show's animation style. Its unique, not anime, but not a cheap style either (I dislike anime). I like how each character has their own personality and unique 'life' stories, it makes them more enjoyable (although I personally think Layla and Bloom are boring.) The problem is, I think people really need to see the Italian original version to really see how enjoyable it is. The American version clips scenes for commercials and also has bad dubs most of the time... I know if I had to pick my favorite season, it'd by far be season 1, which seemed to be leaning towards teens/older kids then season 3 does (plus, the ending for season 3 was not what I was expecting at all). Its kind of obvious that boys won't like this show, duh, its a girl-targeted show, one of the few out there. I read that some were complaining about the characters looking as if they had eating disorders...true, they're unrealistically skinny, but the thing is, the show isn't supposed to be reality, they're in magical realms and have magic powers...(they do have some scenes where they're eating pizza, cookies, and such.)

Im 14 years old, and I have to say that I love winx club. If you think its childish then look at the Italian or British version. Its completely different than the American one! But otherwise, its cool because for starters, although the girls are too thin, at least they don't keep applying makeup or picking out clothes (Exept for sometimes) or going to the spa like in brats. That is a truly horrible show.I also like the fresh escape from reality to a world of (kinda girlie) magic. Even if its a cartoon show about magic, there are some real points.Bloom is from earth, adopted, and unsure of herself. She DID know she was adopted, by the way, unlike in SOME movies. I like the way she struggles with her new power, and I really liked how the witches in the end of first season did get her power, unlike in most Japanese shows where they just keep fighting.Stella is a princess from Solaria, but life isn't perfect, because she failed her first year, and had to repeat it, in her youth was teased for her glasses, and to top it all off, her parents are divorced, so she has a lot of problems. School isn't everything for her, and she much prefers shopping :D.Musa is from the harmonic nebula, a princess in the American version and otherwise not. When she was a little girl, she lost her mom, and her father was so heartbroken, he forbid music (Musas passion) in the house. She is a quiet, thoughtful, and sensitive girl.See? SEE? There is a little bit of reality to it. And for anyone who says they're anorexic and wear too skimpy clothes, Id rather see my kids watching this than many other shows "supposely" for little girls.

It is a colorful cross between Sailor Moon and Harry Potter. In my opinion, there's nothing wrong with that. Some people complain about it being a ripoff of Sailor Moon, but Magical Girls are the prototypical super heroines in Japan just as Super Man is the prototype super hero in America. In other words, if someone says "super hero," a man in a red cape who flies tends to come to mind. Likewise, if you say Magical Girl, certain traits come to mind. It's not the most original series, but as time accumulates history, it gets harder and harder to make up something truly original. As for their "anorexic" figures, they are not unprecedented. For half a century, people have complained about Barbie. Cartoons and dolls are only abstractions of the human form. Mattel tried to make Barbie "normal," and then suddenly MGA Entertainment makes Bratz, and kids start wanting Bratz dollz like crazy. People seem to want the abstract; accentuating the hair, lips, hips, and sparkling eyes. Barbie never made me feel anorexic, however when I saw other girls with flat tummies, human girls - not dolls or cartoons, I felt insecure. Therefore, Winx and the like will not make girls anorexic; they're just cartoons - abstractions of the human form.Overall, this is a fun show for a wide range of youths. Each character has a special, magical talent. In addition, each character has problems to overcome. Each fairy has a pixie friend (Chibi) who also possesses special powers. Another reason why I like this show is because the fairies are racially diverse. Leyla of course is of African descent, Flora is Asian, and Techna is British.
